Dr Kate Brooks

Social Science Researcher

About Me

Kate is a social scientist with a twist; she can talk in plain language as well. Her main focus and expertise is in helping industry and government achieve strategic objectives through integrating social dimensions with economic and environmental drivers to generate greater long term benefits. She recognises that our resources and income are dependent on how individuals and communities use them or behave. Her vision is for a strong and sustainable Australia though assisting industry and government to create and maintain a vibrant, diverse and resilient Australia. Kate works in the context of both management systems and policy, bringing a strategic approach to the benefits that scientific research and analysis can generate for both, ensuring that social research creates solutions for government and industry challenges. Her previous career in corporate affairs, marketing and business management, across a range of industry sectors, provides a broad canvas of experience to draw on to deliver this strategic perspective. Kate currently works with fisheries and agricultural agencies across Australia, advises on fisheries management and both has and had seats on a variety of Boards and Advisory Panels.
