About Me

Moira Rayner is a senior lawyer with particular expertise in workplace relations and anti discrimination law, management and policy advice and investigations with a penchant for working closely with employers who appreciate the benefits of diversity and workforce participation. She has co-authored three books: Rooting Democracy – growing the society we want (with Jenny Lee); The Women’s Power Handbook (with Joan Kirner) and The Commonwealth’s Role in Child Protection (as Acting Deputy Director of the Australian Institute for Family Studies), as well as a handbook Resilient Children and Young People: a discussion paper based on a review of the international research literature (with Meg Montague, for Deakin University). She chaired the Law Reform Commission in WA, was Commissioner for Equal Opportunity for Victoria, a hearings commissioner for the Australian Human Rights Commission and an acting anti-corruption commissioner. Her consultancy and legal practice is next door to the Melbourne Club, which still does not accept women.
