Hazel Edwards OAM

Authorpreneur-educator

About Me

Best known for the picture book classic There’s a Hippopotamus on Our Roof Eating Cake 1980 which toured nationally as Hippo Hippo the Musical in 2016. Hazel Edwards OAM is an authorpreneur who mentors aspiring creators. She co-wrote across cultures with Hijabi Girl and F2m: The Boy Within. Her memoir Not Just a Piece of Cake; Being an Author explores ‘anecdultery’ as storytelling structure.

Hazel runs Writing Non Boring Family History & Memoir workshops.

She is married with children and grandchildren. Her hobby is bellydancing (not in public) and she believes in participant-observation research, even on an Antarctic expedition in 2001.

Hazel is currently writing Celebrant-Sleuth, an adult murder mystery.

She believes writers should be idea risk-takers, and that creators of intellectual property should be respected as contributing to understanding our own and other cultures.

You can find more information about Hazel Edwards at www.hazeledwards.com or via FaceBook, Twitter and LinkedIn.
