Con Irwin Sub-Fund

Established in 2008, the Con Irwin Sub-Fund holds the distinction of being the first Sub-Fund created within the Victorian Women’s Benevolent Trust. It was established by Hilary Irwin to honour the memory of her mother, Constance (Con) Irwin. By continuing Con’s legacy of community service and strong social justice commitments, this fund supports innovative projects that challenge the status quo. It operates on the principle that real change requires a circuit-breaking approach, tackling discrimination, violence, and educational inequality at the source.

Purpose and Focus

How does the Con Irwin Sub-Fund support women?

The Con Irwin Sub-Fund champions grassroots initiatives that offer creative solutions to break the cycle of violence against women and children, while dismantling barriers to educational opportunity. It serves as a living tribute to Con Irwin’s life work, ensuring resources reach community organisations that are often overlooked by larger funders.
