Judy Horacek

Cartoonist

Judy Horacek

Judy Horacek is a freelance Australian cartoonist whose cartoons are often concerned with feminism, social justice and the environment (and sometimes are just plain silly too).

She’s been writing poems and short stories since she learned to hold a pen, and with a love for drawing and making pictures.

Judy’s work has been published widely both in Australia and overseas and currently she has regular cartoon gigs in The Age and for the Victorian Women’s Trust. Judy also creates children’s picture books, both on her own and with Mem Fox, including the much beloved ‘Where is the Green Sheep?’.

In 2005 a selection of Judy’s work was acquired by the National Library of Austraila for its collection. Her work is in thousands of newspapers, books, journals and magazines (not to mention greeting cards, aprons, tea towels and mugs) all over the world, and finds that much of her life is devoted to finding new places to put cartoons!
