Switchboard Victoria is a peer-driven community-led specialist LGBTIQ service. For over 28 years, their services have been connecting socially isolated LGBTIQ individuals of all ages (their friends, families and allies) to community and mainstream services. Using peer-led and professional models of support, Switchboard Victoria applies best practice in working with and supporting diverse LGBTIQ people, especially seniors.
“This grant will help us facilitate new social and community connections for LGBTIQ women and non-binary Victorians over 50 facing barriers to participation. Our accessible, inclusive events will celebrate and empower older LGBTIQ women and non-binary people in metro and rural Victoria, encouraging pride in identity and providing access to information on available services and supports.”

This project builds connection and overcomes isolation for older LGBTIQ women and non-binary people.
Working with three Victorian communities, Switchboard will create safe, accessible opportunities for LGBTIQ women and non-binary people (50+) to come together, celebrate their diversity/strengths and find friendship and support. Volunteers at the event will provide peer support and intergenerational connection.
