The Caring Mums program provides emotional support to pregnant women and mothers of newborn babies. The program matches trained volunteers, all of whom are mothers themselves, to new mums with the goal of developing a secure trusting relationship in order to provide emotional support. Through regular weekly meetings for up to a period of 12 months, mums’ feelings of isolation, anxiety and depression decrease, while their parenting confidence and sense of belonging grow significantly. This process has countless benefits to their infant’s development, wellbeing and attachment.
This Sub-Fund supports projects that provide positive and effective community supports for mothers and their children or young women from less advantaged backgrounds.
