Heather Osland Support and Action Group

News Flash - Heather Osland released July 22, 2005

After 13 years of physical, sexual and psychological abuse from her husband Frank, Heather Osland was found guilty of Frank's murder and sentenced to 14 ½ years in prison. Her adult son David, who struck the blow that killed Frank, was acquitted on the basis of self-defence of himself and his mother.

The Women's Trust has had a long association with the Release Heather Osland Group, which later became the Heather Osland Support and Action Group. Running parallel to our granting work and dedication to addressing the issue of family violence, the Trust was also involved in supporting Heather in an advocacy sense. Heather Osland Support and Action Group meetings were held at the Victorian Women's Trust, with staff of the VWT actively involved in the group's work.

Heather Osland was released in August 2005. The Victorian Women's Trust continue to support Heather in every way we can. For more information about Heather and the Heather Osland Support and Action Group, contact Sarah or Mary at the Women's Trust.
