The Guaranteed Loan Fund
The Trust negotiated a Guarantee contract with the State Bank of Victoria with a range of terms whereby the Trust guaranteed 50% of the risk of loans to female clients as a way of convincing the bank to lend funds to low income women for business enterprise development. Over 500 women were supported.
Using the model that women’s self-employment is a tool for economic development collectively, and that there are unrecognised strengths among disadvantaged women, the Guaranteed Loan Fund believes that access to capital combined with direct management training and assistance programs could aid the entry of low-income women into self-employment.
