Our Water Our Vote The VWT and the Alternative Technologies Association jointly initiated this State election action for a significant improvement of water efficiency in Victoria. A survey document Our Water Our Vote - Action for a Water Efficient Victoria! was distributed to all Victorian parliamentary members and prospective candidates. In this document we asked members and candidates to indicate their willingness to promote and support a number odf significant water efficiency initiatives across the State. The results were reported through the media prior to the State election. Both major parties refused to agree to introduce daily targets for water consumption of mains water - moving to 120L per person per day, then to 100L per person per day by 2013. And while the Labor Party declined to extend the Water Smart Gardens and Homes Rebate Scheme to include a greater range of water efficient conservation products, the incoming Coalition Government agreed with the policy. We intend to track the commitments made through the life of the next parliament. We placed an advertisement in The Age on Thursday November 25th which reported on the joint initiative with the Alternative Technology Association in relation to Victoria's State Government Election 2010.
