MOIRA RAYNER FUND FOR EQUAL OPPORTUNITY

Moira Rayner was the Commissioner for Equal Opportunity from 1990 until 1994. The Moira Rayner Fund for Equal Opportunity was established by the Victorian Woman's Trust in 1993, in direct response to changes made to the Victorian Equal Opportunity Act. These changes made it increasingly difficult for victims of discrimination to take action to protect their rights.

The Fund was established to provide redress to individuals and organisations that find themselves victims of discrimination, but have no alternate avenues of assistance open to them. It aims to support and protect the most disadvantaged people, to take up their right to complain, to assert their claim to equal treatment, and to be treated with dignity.

The VWT encourages people to make donations to the Moira Rayner Fund. However, please note that these donations are not tax deductible. This is because the VWT as a charitable organization is not able to provide grants to individuals
